Blogging Was a Thing

It has been nearly eight years since I posted regularly on this blog. I put up a few posts back in 2012, otherwise, nothing for a long time. Going back to read the posts from 2006 - 09 have been a trip down memory lane for me. Back then it felt like everyone in the bike racing community had a blog and would update it after every training ride or race. We all ate that crap up because we wanted to see everyone else's first hand account of participating in the sport. Times are different now. No more bike racing (for me anyway) and no more making my daily rounds to check out everyone's blog. I get pretty nostalgic over things like that because bike racing was such a big part of my life and only a few years of it were captured on a blog. Some day I want to show my daughter all the nonsense junk I wrote on this blog in hopes that it will give her a small glimpse into that part of my life.

NASCAR Race Attendance

What is wrong with the attendance at NASCAR races? I went to the Chicagoland 400 in 2015 and was part of a near sell-out crowd. A short two years later I went to the same event and the seats were barely half full. NASCAR is not for everyone, and I'll admit that to the casual observer it looks rather boring. I find it to be boring at times as well. The introduction of stage racing in 2017 has added a little more excitement to the races, but there are still stretches that make it hard for me to keep my eyes open. Chicagoland 400 - 9-17-2017 The five-minute crash clock has also cut down on some of the frustrating moments of the races. The debris cautions cause by cars logging laps while held together by duct tape are a thing of the past. If the car can't be fixed in five minutes then park it and go home. I like it. Although the end product still has some ways to go in order to win back fans. Hopefully these two small changes are the first steps back to the hay days of th
